How long must a person be dead before they are no longer referred to as "the late"?

For instance, it would be "the late Peter Boyle" but not "the late George Washington."

Probably when enough time has passed that it would be logical that they would be dead, so you don't need to add "the late". Like, George Washington would be about 275 years old right now, but Peter Boyle could still be alive.
