I mean, yes, hair is not supposed to be eaten, but I think that there are many more things to be worried about what is in our food than hair! I just don't understand why people get so upset about it. If they knew everything that happened to their food before they got it they would probably be concerned with many other things, and this stray one little hair would be the least of their worries, don't you think?

because my order of spaghetti bolognaise or shepherd's pie doesn't state (free strands of hair +++) in the menu. It is disgusting because the hair could contain lice and it also makes the customer believe that the staff handling the food aren't hygienic and civic-minded.

Because some people are nasty.
They don't wash their hair, have lice, sweat all on thie hair. A bird could of crapped on their hair for all I know. No it isn't supposed to be eaten, so why would I want that in my food? You would be like oh well got a paint chip in my food, no big deal. Oh got some glass in my food, no big deal. No. Well I am sure all kinds of things happen to our food, but what we can't see we don't worry about. Oh well. I still don't want damn hair in my food.

I think the reason would be 2 things:

1. Is that you can actually see the hair. Almost anyone eating something will stop as soon as we see something foreign in it.

2. The tastebuds are SO sensative that they can feeling something foreign in your mouth that is about 1/10 the thickness of a hair. Thats why you gag when you feel one in your mouth.

A hair on top of your food can happen by accident - although it shouldn't! A hair actually cooked into it shreaks of poor kitchen hygiene! For a real 'disgusting' meal, how about any self-service salad bar, pizza bar, cake display, bread display, etc - people have breathed on, coughed on, sneezed on, touched, and leant over and dropped hairs and God knows what else on everything you are going to eat. Enjoy your 'cooked-in' hair - sounds quite healthy to me!!!

Do you enjoy having hair in your food? Maybe you should eat off the floor so you don't have to dirty a plate. If I'm paying for a nice meal in a restaurant I don't want to see parts of the chef in my plate. Just a flaw of mine, I guess.

because they could have lice or something and that means if they have their hair in your food then they might not have a clean work space and by that i mean they might not use those gloves when touching other peoples food and if they are sick you could get sick cause' some people still have to go to work sick anyway i think it's nasty

No, it's someone's dead protein. Plus, where is the hair coming from? Some people are very unsanitary, plus, with hair comes natural oils that ppl secrete (eww!!!)

If the kitchen staff are not following health department guidelines (i.e. hair tied back) then it certainly makes you wonder about other aspects of cleanliness. Also, I prefer if someone else's DNA were not in my food. Call me crazy.
