Always been curious... This applies to theater as well as TV, movies, etc. Thanks!

Because all the scenes are actually staged with a series of movements and steps. They don't just go "action" and actors improvise--they actually plan out things such as "your hand goes here while my leg is there, then we roll twice to the right, etc". The steps are very technical and thus the whole time the actors are actually remembering how to place each body part at a certain time. They don't really have time to get turned on.

Well there are normally a lot of people around, and whenever actors talk about those scenes they always say how unsexy they are. There's people all over the place, usually a director telling you what to do, where to put that hand, turn this way... etc. It's not an intimate thing. I'm sure some people have gotten aroused, though.

Maybe they don't control themselves. How many Hollywood marriages have broken up and the next thing you know, the actors in a movie are dating each other. Look at Brad and Angelina. Hot scenes together in Mr. & Mrs. Smith and now they have a baby. I don't think that was acting.

It's called acting! Besided I don't think I could get it up with a bunch of other people watching. And they probably have to stop every 30 seconds to change lighting or something. What a mood killer!

Maybe they don't? I mean, how else would you get really good acting in a scene like that?
Or, maybe the fact that they are doing it in front of people and cameras is enough of a turn-off...it would be for me.

think of it this way...if you had 20 or more people staring at you, making sure your butt looks nice enough, and that you looking at the camera right, under hot lights, trying to work with someone you might not even be attracted to, and then trying to remember your lines while you're half naked. honestly, there's really too much going on during that kind of shoot to be turned on.

They probably do get turned on initially but with all the cameras, lights, people and all the retakes, it is a long process, a real mood buster really....

how do you know they do?? i'm sure that some are turned on and some aren't. i bet that most are too busy worrying about what they are supposed to be doing, and their next line, and not to stick their elbow in the other person's eyeball, to actually be turned on.

Why should they control themselves. It makes it more believeable
