Depends. What engine and trans? If it's a 2.4 TwinCam and a manual then not only yes, but hell yes.
The TC -standard equip on 96-01 Z24's- is an evolution of the Quad 4. The original Quad wasn't known for it's reliability due to a poor headgasket design, but it was basically built by Olds to be raced. I've seen Quads push terrifying horsepower in almost stock form, aside from the forced induction that's getting them there.
If you have the TC and a manual, good for you. It's the F23 made by Getrag, a beast of a trans with good gearing. You shouldn't have a problem with it's reliability in high power situations.
Lastly, it's a Cav. No offense to the pony car guys, but when was the last time your car weighed in at 2600lbs stock? oh. right. never. The cav gives you the advantage of a car that weighs as much as a Civic with an engine that doesn't suck. If you keep the exterior close to stock, you have a killer sleeper.

No...because then it just looks cheap and pathetic..everyone knows what it really is. It's lame...if you are going to spend all that money to soupe up a car....get a better car...not saying chevy cavaliers aren't good, the are just a more practical, cheaper, teenage car....not a sports car.

Bob J nailed it on the head. After market panels for the front ,side a rear are relatively inexpensive and best of all ,like they say "Nothin' runs like a Chevy!!! Also suspension upgrades are fairly cheap to so to put the handling under the car and the brakes and rotors to stop it on a dime and turn on a nickel ,Ya can't go wrong
