It depends on what your passion is...and who you are going with. I have been to Italy and France- both are unique and wonderful places to visit. The weather is the best in June-July, however it is also the busiest season and maybe the most expensive. It all depends on how much money you have to spend. I went through efcollegebreak.com because everything is included, you can go off on your own at any time, and its easier to budget. You get a personal guide for the entire tour- I went for 19 days and traveled to England, Italy, France and Greece for about 2600.00 for everything- amazing- email me if you are interested- i might be able to get you a discount.
In Paris there is the Louvre museum, famous for Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa. It would take at least 2 days to enjoy the artwork and sculptures in this museum as it is enourmous. There is also a cruise you can take around Paris seeing many area including the Eiffel Tower and the Cathedrale de Notre Dame. The Basilique du Sacre Couer (Sacred Heart Basilica) is breath-taking and you can see all of Paris from the top.
There is also the French Riviera- which is beautiful and relaxing. It all depends on what you like to do. There are Casinos along the French Riviera in Nice France.
My personal favorite is Italy though. Florence is georgeous and I would really like to move there one day. Italy aquires the Tower of Pisa, the statue of David, the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican (creation of man- Michelangelo), the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Colosseum, etc. You can do your own research to see what interests you the most. Its all personal preference.
If I had to pick for you- I would go directly to Italy- visiting Rome for the history aspect, Florence for the laid back true feel of Italy and then the Islands of Capri to end the trip with a bang.
Good luck on your venture- you will not regret it no matter which you choose.

I truly enjoyed both Italy and France it just depends on what you are more interested in seeing. Paris is a spectacular city, but Venice was one of my favorite cities that I visited over two months in Europe. You have to do the research and see what sounds better for you and your own interests.
We were there for Sept-Nov and I would definetly recommend going in late Sept or Oct. The weather is still pretty good although not nearly as warm as in the summer time, but the crowds are managable.
If you do decide on Italy check out the Cinque Terre it's a group of five cities on the Italian Riveria that are very very nice! Good luck and enjoy!

I was also jsut in Europe for 2 months and it was fantastic. I'll go ahead and agree with the people who said they would go to Italy, it really is much cooler overall i think. I only went to Paris, Nice, and Monaco in France - they were all nice. I did Terino, Milan, Venice, Florence, Siena, Rome, La Spezia, and the villages of the Cinque Terre (freakin awesome) so yeah, I'd go for Italy. Best time of the year for cheapness and crowds is around November'ish I think... but you may want to go slightly earlier for the warmer weather. Have fun!

I would have to say hit Italy not France! France seems to be lost in the year of cave men, no rules, no law, and no rights to protect you or your family or property! It's a joke here and I feel un-easy everyday! Besides it's cold here most of the time, unless you head south but, Paris seems to be the place everyone goes to on vacation. The food here (meat) is the worst there is, I think they dug up dead cows or close to it! What you hear about them being RUDE is so true too! They cue( stand in line) like they want to nibble on your ear....to close for me.Why not move back to the USA your most likely asking yourself.... my kids and wife are French; Head south May or June when it's not too hot or too cold!

France in spring. I've studied abroad there and visited many times, it's never been disappointing. Learn a little bit of the language for whichever place you choose.
