Because it's true. Some people are "too young" for marriage. It's not the age, really. It's the mentality.
Just because no one's showing interest doesn't meen no one's interested. It could be a guy on the bus you see every day that just hasn't found the right excuse to introduce himself. Guys can be shy, too. Give them the excuse, introduce yourself to attractive strangers, have something with you that may attract the attention of the kind of guy you want *why do you think any man would have a froufrou dog? they want to attract a woman who will want to pet it, which could start a conversation which can start a relationship. makes sense*
Mom's can be your worst critc. Also it may be that she's looking at you from a defferent standard than everyone else is due to a generational gap. 50years ago, hiphuggers were hooker clothes. Now, anything cut higher than hiphuggers are granny clothes. Times change. The only way I couldn't justify your mom's opinion is if it's HER peers complimenting you, and not yours. Remember, beuty is in the eye of the beholder, and often the beholder's eye is different from generation to generation.
I hope I've made sense of that, but this is the insight of a 17yr old, so my understanding will often be disreegarded as nievety.
Also, I'm aware that I cannut speel. Neither can a lot of the "educated adults" that come on here.

Just because everyone jumps off a cliff, would you? Check the stats...How many of them STAY married?
It's a mean trick...Yes, there's someone out there for everyone. The problem is that nobody tells you where they are. Somewhere along the way, you will run across someone that just clicks.
Mom has issues that shouldn't be pushed on to the daughter. As long as YOU think and understand that you are beautiful, just think of mom as an insecure idiot.

Remember, your mother has that 50s, 60s or 70s mentality that everyone has to get married and be miserable for a big part of their lives.....don't BELIEVE it! You will find someone, you won't find someone, it all depends on you and what you want, but WHATS THE BIG RUSH.....try to take what she says with a 'grain of salt' you'll do whatever you meant to do, in your own time!

There's a difference between what people do and what's wisest to do. People who marry when young tend to make baed choices and end up either unhappy or divorced.
People say "there's someone out there for you" because they like believing that it's so.
There probably are men out there who would be right for you.
Your mom sounds jealous; try to ignore it. Either that, or she disapproves of your fashion choices -- try to ignore that, too.

It's the "you can't please all of the people all of the time" thing. Everybody has different standards that they want others to live by. Be yourself, be happy. And when they say things like that just say "thank you" with a smile on your face.

Honestly, who cares what other people say? Follow your own heart and feelings, and do what you do.
