If the celeb pool was all that I could choose from I would say Jon Stewart of the Daily Show. At the very least he's up-to-date with current affairs.

Tim Allen. Seems like he could get the country back in order. But he wouldn't be serious all the time time and would have a sense of humor unlike someone *cough cough bush* which brings me to another choice Robin Willams. Love his new movie!
