Any of the following:
- Swelling
- Oozing or puss
- Redness
- Extreme soreness
- A very bad odor

Rinse with saline solution and call your local piercing parlor for suggestions. If it's infected and you can't fix it, it may be best to remove it - but don't try that as a first course of action.

if you are worried enough to ask it probabl.y is infected. redness, itchy, or hot can mean infected. clean the area with hydrogen peroxide then put neosporen on it. This will work to keep your peircing clean even ikf it is not infecteded for sure. Um you can get those two things at any drugs store.
