People are born gay. Virtually every trusted psychological authority on the planet has been telling us for the better part of 4 decades and in no uncertain terms that homosexuality is a normal, natural, healthy sexual orientation that is absolutely unchangable. In fact, "reparative therapy" is quite dangerous and no legitimate psychologist would dare try to "repair" that which isn't "broken".

It's aquired. You don't know if you're gay or straight when you're born. You don't even know what sex is. Humans don't quite have the same genetic instincts other animals do. You learn about sex and whatever intrigues you more is what sways the decision. It may also come down to being hurt by the opposite sex too many times or even just direct experiences with someone. There is no genetic blueprint for sexuality. There's the hormones which determine when you want it, but nothing more.

There is no definitive proof for any of those three arguments. The mind is complicated, and unlocking its secrets and a person's true motives is impossible. However, I will tell you that people who feel like they were born gay don't have to live a homosexual lifestyle. People born with a predisposition to alchoholism aren't necessarily alcoholics. Never let one thing about yourself define who you are.

It is easier to understand the concept of sexuality if one can view it on a continuum. There are those who are on more the extreme ends (homo or hetero) and there are those who are in between. Those that are removed to some degree from either end may "have a choice," but most people lean towards one or the other by birth. It is an extreme (and erroneous) view that one would "choose" something that would bring great hardship and prejudice towards oneself, or, is against one's own preference. I know of no single hetero who *ever* chose to be gay (or straight, for that matter). In instances of experimentation, this only proves a sexual gradation on the continuum in either direction.

I believe people are born gay. I had a best friend whom I met when I was 2 and grew up with. At a very young age he was different from the other boys. He told me he was gay a couple of years ago, and no one was surprised in the slightest.

Both and many variations of instances. As the first answer said, it's been studied and some scientists
suppose there's a genetic cause. This makes sense to me since there are those born with both or uncertain gender and, again, in varying degrees of mutation.

Current scientific research supports the theory that people are born gay. It is most likely due to a combination of genetics and things that happen in the womb.
And to the people who say it has to be learned because it isn't "natural," do your research. There are countless documented examples of homosexuality throughout the animal kingdom.

there is still reserach going on for this topic
but many conditions are multifactorial, so they are controlled by nature adn nurture
they may be born with some different genes, but the environment may "turn" them gay
like a kid whos surrounded by girls just enjoys doing girly things in childhood and likes talking abt guys?
but it may be more in the genes becuase soem people learn they are gay after getting marreid, like taht new jersey governer guy

I don't think people are born gay. Homosexuality is condemned in the Bible (1 Cor. 6:9, 1 Tim. 1:10).
God has made us in His image (Gen. 1:26). Also, mankind is given choice between good and evil, an example is in Lev. 26:3-28, where God states rewards for obeying Him and consequences for disobeying Him. These two imply a choice has been given. Homosexuality is a choice. If it isn't, how could it be condemned?
