A close mate recently had a very bad acid trip, in which he cried, screamed, threw up and stripped... He could easily have hurt himself or anyone around him.

Now, I know he's not taking acid for a while but how can I get him to stay off it forever? And I think he's getting pretty bad psychosis and flashbacks now... He keeps calling me but this isnt ideal because I don't know how to solve anything for him. All I've done so far is helped him talk through it, hugged him etc.

Should he see a shrink? Rehab?

Welllllll rehab is a good idea, however giving him the ok on it isn't gonna be easy. or it might depending on how bad it is to him and how much he wants a cure. conferting him is a good thing your doing, and your conserned about him so it makes you a better friend. He'll thank you one day when he decides to trust you on the rehab thing. I don't know much about him, but that's only if he's still tempted and he's getting all the side effects of it. If these are side effects due to past life, and has nothing to do with the drugs then I'd go help him out with a shrink. If not then you'll have friends that can help you out on this right? friends that care about him as much as you do?

You need to contact professionals who will know what to do or at least point you in the right direction. Numbers below:

0800 77 66 00 (Frank, professional advice about drugs)
UK National Drugs helpline: 0800 77 66 00

The National Drugs Helpline is a 24-hour, seven-days a week, free and confidential telephone service that offers advice and information for those who are concerned, or have questions, about drugs. The service is available to anyone.

I think your friend definitly needs a visit to the doctor. Sometimes people never actually recover from even one acid trip. Sounds like he may have permanently damged his brain. I'm sorry. It is really sad, it happened to a friend of mine and they have never been the same person since.
I would definitly push your friend into doing it, maybe even make the appointment and insist on taking him. Being in a state like that can be the most terrifying experience of your life. It's good he has a friend.

Rehab is always a good idea. Get some of the people that he really cares about and do an intervintion. I know it sounds corney and they only do it in movies. but sometimes it is the only way to get people to see that they are hurting themselves and the people around them. Whatever it is do it quick. If something were to happen and you hadn't acted yet you would probably blame yourself good luck

You're doing exactly what a good mate should, and there's probably nothing more that you can do for him personally other than what you're already doing.

Cliche I know, and not a nice position, but encourage him to see his GP for further help.

Well done on being such a caring friend.

make sure he knows your always there for him and you want to help him throw it, (basicly what you were doing before) but if he really wants to get over it, he really needs to do it himself, you can only suport him.
I think it would be good if he does sees a phycologist (sorry if i spelt it wrong), most people think its for crazy people but i know some people who are very close to me who saw one (they werent crazy at all) and are now perfectly happy.
Good luck

You can't help him...he has to help himself. I would suggest rigorous rehab.
