No you can not
1st, if you are with Verizon, Verizon service network is CDMA. Sim cards are only used by GSM service providers Some Verizon phones "might" have a slot for a sim card but it is not in use with your current Verizon service. I am blown away that the poster above that claims to work in a Verizon store would give you such bad information. With Verizon, the only phone you can repalce your broke phone with is another Verizon Branded CDMA phone
Cheers

Hmmm... I thought Verizon phones don't HAVE SIM cards?

But you can switch to another phone to keep your contract easy enough at any Verizon factory store. You'll have to pay for the phone, of course.

as long as the phone youre ptting the sim card in is also verizon it should work i do that with my cingular phone...but your contract will still have you with the old broken phone the only way you can get out of the plan is if you up grade and that can be expensive, but if the new phone works then verizn doesnt have to know and your contract stays the same...

Yes you can I have a motorola MPx200 it has a sim slot it use to run on atat until they turned into cingular. I decided to swich companies. But companies put locks on the phone. So you need to unlock your phone for any sim to work in it if you dont unlock it it will only work with the brand it was made for. Im not sure about virizon but i know thats true for sim phones.
