I imagine that if I were stuck in London, I'd be a hell of a lot more happy than being stuck in the middle of nowhere in Tennessee, as I will be.

My grown kids are in NY and I can not be with them this year. It is going to be tough. Stay in touch via phone, make sure at least visit one friend or invite someone over for cocktails or dinner. Go to a private club, not a pub and strike up a conversation with someone, they may be in the same boat as you. I for one am going to call a dozen times, go to the neighbors, and go to chruch and hope the roof does not fall in. Whatever you decide to do Merry Christmas to you. P.S. I want to visit London, hopefully next summer, any tips on where to stay cheap?

Oooh, I know. It is such a beast with your friends either skiing in Klosters or partying on Daddys ship anchored off Mustique. I do feel for you. Why don't you do a little comfort shopping in Harvey Nicks to keep your well (in) bred boredom levels down?

Message to 'vivib' - go to www.earthcam.com/usa/newyork/timessquare/ and you can see people walking along at 46th and Broadway in real time. Get your kids to stand underneath the camera and wave to you while they talk to you on their mobile phone! Loads of people do it. Just arrange a suitable time and way to go! Happy Christmas.

I've been in London before. I mean like who hasn't. You'll just have to try and deal with it. She should come with a warning.
