My question is serious. I'll skip the silly or inappropriate answers in the hope that someone else will know what I'm talking about. This is definately not a odor that was in my room, as it was of someone who has been out of my life for years. The dream was about this person.

It is scientifically proved that the one-of-the-five-sense with the longer memory, is smell. So, that odor of this person was stored in you subconscious and through the pictures of your dreams, the smell was recalled. They say that the perfume that most attracts humans, are the ones with vanilla base, because they "remember" their breast feeding which is their first "sexual" encounter!

During a dietary change where I went from eating meat to just plain fruits and nuts, after some time at it, about a year, I had a nostalgic dream where I was in a small coffer shop in Evergreen Colorado. All the smells of the coffee shop, the coffee, the bacon and eggs were prevalent and of course made me feel very nostalgic and homesick for the old way of life. Later I learned that that could have been provoked by a possible dislodging of ingredients buried many years deeply in the cilium in my intestines. The possible dislodging I attributed to the many hours of Hatha Yoga and of course the diet.
