I work at starbucks and I'm afraid that their harsh cleaners may damage my engagement ring.

I am pretty sure that gold will not be harmed. Gold does not tarnish. Diamonds are probably safe too, but I would check against other answers.

Over time cleaners will or can harm your ring depending on the situation. Gold is a soft metal so even gold cleaner over time will wear away at the ring a little, so you don't want to clean it all the time. As far as industrial cleaning products, I don't think they will hurt it too much. Unless they are acidic and really abrasive. But you should be using gloves while cleaning at work. I believe it's an OSHA regulation to protect employees.

If the ring is "real" gold and it has a "real" diamond, you won't have any problems. Just make sure you don't loose it.

no they shouldnt. i used bleach all the time to wash dishes and it hasnt effected my ring. but i am sure that your employer will provide you with some dish gloves if you ask. so you wont have to worry about it. exspecially if the chemicals are harmful to your hands. you have to protect them.
