Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.

It is difficult to maintain perspective but the amount of bad people is miniscule compared to the amount of good. Imagine what the world would be like if the majority of people were unpleasant, the world would probably no longer be here. Every now and then when I'm feeling down somebody pops up to remind me of how magnificent humanity can be(doctors in Iraqi hospitals who treat people regardless of their religious leaning is just one of many examples). I think it is about focusing on the positive and not the negative.

Not at the expense of the natural world and wild life. To be honest a massive pandemic like bird flu wouldn't be a bad thing - I'd happily take my chances.

I dont think so... surely it would be a shame to loose all the technological and advances and have to start over but the human spirit is so damaged and deviated from the nature of kindness and love there simply is NO LEGITIMATE REASON to value life as worth saving other than to continue our pagan materialistic cruelties and because life itself is a really big deal.
