My little man is very active he like beats me up and late at night I have a hard time getting him to sleep man I try everything feeding diaper changing cuddling singing swaddling and none of this seems to work! It is a full time job getting him to bed at night what are somethings I can try that will put him right out? Also why is my baby so strong? Is this normal for him?

My kids were both super strong too, My 1 1/2 year old could push a heavy door open better than one of my 20 something friends lol, it was HILLARIOUS.

for bed time have you tried putting him in a stroller and walking him back and forth or in cirlces? I had to with both of my kids, some times they were out in 5 mins, other times it was an hour of walking. kids are on their own schedual too, so that makes it harder on us moms... also if he is the only one you have, have you tried a car ride? if you have no car, im sorry, that sucks. sometimes that was the only thing that put out my kid. a midnight ride around the block, a *few* times, haha....

uhm... I would not make a habbit of it, but some nights when my kids were very cranky, I mean kicking, screaming, *nothing* made them happy, I would give them 3/4 of a dose of cough medicine (I never give a full dose, even when sick) and that would help calm them down just enough for me to be able to rock with them. I mean this is emergency only usage-

can not think of anything else I used to do

You're blessed to have such a strong child. Don't let him sleep all day. Give him a few naps but that's all. If he falls asleep when its not nap time wake him up. Wash his hands and face with a face cloth; that usually did the trick for my children. By doing this you will get him on a sleep schedule and you will show him from an early age who's in charge. Enjoy you child.

My baby is 7 weeks. He gives me a wicked hard time at night too. He will fight it right down to the end. I try everything as well. It takes me like a hour to get him to sleep (in my bed) then when I try to move him from my bed to his he wakes up. Its an endless battle, I wish I had the answer believe me!

Hello =)

From my own experience as a stay-at-home dad, the biggest problem with getting babies to bed at night is simply because they aren't tired...

Try not putting him down for a nap after 4pm, and see how that goes..he may get grumpy for you towards evening, but once he settles down, he should go to sleep.

Just a thought.

Are you doing rice cereal with his bottle at bedtime?? It might be the right time to start?? (I don't care what the doctor says...ask your mother.....or grandmother)

Namaste,

Why don't you just put him to bed turn the mobile on and walk out of the room. Let him cry it out a bit after a couple of nights he should be putting himself to sleep.

Your baby is only 3 1/2 months old...something is up. Maybe he senses that you are trying to put him off, or maybe he just wants to cuddle.

feel his tummy, if it is hard he may have gas (colic). If this is the case you can get some mylecon drops and that will help tremendously. Also you could try puttin his head on your upper arm with the palm of your had in his tummy and put some pressure on his tummy. This may help you. You could also try to put his tummy to your tummy and lay down, they like to feel skin on skin contact. Good Luck. I hope this helps.

its called asserting your authority. this is YOUR child, therefore it is YOUR possesion. are you going to let someone else walk all over you? if you let him do it now, he will be doing it for the rest of your life. why dont you smack him around a bit and teach him who's boss.
