I just recently discovered the Earth Children series by Jean Auel and I loved it! The first book is Clan of the Cave Bear. :)
And on a completely different tangent, the Odd series by Dean Koontz. :) OR Marley and Me or Light on Snow by Anita Shrieve.
;) happy reading.

I would try and get a copy of "The Dracula Tape" By Fred Saberhagen. It's basically a rewrite of Dracula, on from the fanged ones views. What Fred saberhagen did was he read through Dracula and found all of Stoker's mistakes. For example: At the end, Dracula wasn't staked, nor was he killed by day light, as you assume at the end of Dracula. All that they do is stab Dracula in the heart and slit his throat. So the way that they end
"The Dracula Tape" is Dracula say he was able to turn himself into a mist and float away. It's an AWSOME book, but it's out of print, so I don't know if you'll be able to find a copy or not. But I would defiantly check if i were you. Merry Christmas.

The newer books I have read lately have really disappointed me like: The Secret Life of Bees (horrid) and Lovely Bones (wretched)
I decided to re-read some older books I love: One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Nectar in a Sieve, Look Homeward Angel, the Once and Future King (probably inspired the Harry Potter series)
Read some older classics: They are classics because they are really good not because some literary agencies Hype them

I finally started reading Uncle Tom's Cabin and am really enjoying it.
I also recommend the Joshua series by Joseph Girzone. I am currently reading Joshua and the Holy Land.
Since it's Christmas time, I recommend you check out The Christmas Shoes or A Christmas Carol. Both are wonderful.

Calico Palace by Gwen Owen - about California in the days before the 49ers there were people called the "48ers" as they were in CA before the big rush. Written in the 70's but VERY well written, great characters, and an awesome read.
Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach - kind of gory, but fascinating (not as gross/bad as one would think). Well written and incredibly witty.
Vurt by Jeff Noon - if you like fiction of a different t sci-fi sort, you'll like this one.
