I can do it myself now, but it was definitely a skill I had to learn. I grew up as an insecure "people pleaser." I didn't care enough about myself to realize that if my own house wasn't clean, I had no business helping other people clean theirs.

The thing that most helped me change my situation was the book "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" by Dr. Stephen Covey. I read it for the first time 12 years ago and it smacked me in the face. It taught me to figure out what my goals and priorities were, that I had choices, and that it was my right and responsibility to take action. Very powerful information that has helped me be a better, more successful and productive human being.

Depends upon the task. For housework and cooking my movitation is dislike of mess and hunger .

For other stuff like cleaning out the car, or changing the kitty litter - someone else is good for me. "TAKE out that litter box NOW" helps!!
