remember what has made Christmas special for you in the past. then maybe find some of those old Christmas specials, charlie brown, frosty, Rudolph and watch them with your son. then try to
start a Christmas tradition of your own with your son.

Christmas is Special............
It's about family and friends and Faith..........
That's something even a 5 year old can understand.
Take him to a Christmas play put on by other kids at a local school. Have him buy a gift for a child in need. Explain the true meaning of Christmas to him. There are many good books.
The light in his eyes and the smile on his face will give you
the Christmas spirit you are looking for. Leave worrying about
the bills for January. After all, we're only kids once....
Maybe there's a best friend he would like to get a gift for.
Help him choose something they can share later. It will make memories for many Christmas's to come. Let him help with all the decorations, make some home made ones...and don't forget the special cookies for Santa...let him make them and choose the place for the milk and cookie plate. He will never forget the smile on your face and the praise, for finding just the right spot,
for the best homemade Santa cookies ever.
We have all long since forgotten many of our gifts, but the sharing, the love and the stories are with us forever. God Bless

Go to the food bank and help bag groceries
Help out at a soup Kitchen
Find a family in your area in need and drop of something special. These are all things that you can start doing with your Son now and perhaps he will just always no that giving is the most important part of Christmas.

One thing I used to do with my children was clean up the house gather up toys that they were either finished playing with or toys they wanted to let some other child play with. We would take these down to the Salvation Army as a family. It has left a lasting impression on all of my children.
