The airline do not suggest that you wrap packages. Here's an insert from TSA
Pack smart. Bringing prohibited items to the airport will cause delays in the screening process for you and other passengers. If you're not sure what items are allowed, check TSA's Web site for a complete list.
Do not wrap gifts. During the screening process, it is sometimes necessary to closely inspect items. Wrapped gifts delay the screening process and will not be re-wrapped by security officers.

If it is a genuine package that has nothing in that can harm anyone on the filght then have no fear, the luggage is going to go through the machine and if is any thing that is not suppose to be in the luggage wrapped or unwrapped the machine will detect it, if you are so concerned about it been ripped open then give it to the bearer in a lovely little bag that can be held in the hand, for every thing have to be screened for no one know who is who.

Just in case, sweetie, don't wrap them... Do the wrapping later, just in case you do get your luggage opened up at checkpoint before they cheki it in. Recently I came home from London with a box of 450 tea bags for my dad in my luggage, and some genious suspected I was carrying dope. The box was open because I had nipped a tea bag and had some tea just before leaving for the airport, that was all... I was held back for one hour, I almost missed my flight and I had my dad's tea bags decomised. There'se a lot of paranoia in airport security these days, so go with the flow and keep your objects visible. They might think you packed a bomb and wrapped it with frosty the snowman just to appear sweet.

They might - if they choose to do a random close inspection. They tell you not to wrap them just incase they are picked but I mean you can take the chance and wrap them because you may save your cousin the trouble of rewrapping them.

I would suggest have it wrapped on your arrival at the airport in China. This is a busy period, so the possibility of them opening is too big.

It depends on what's in it. There's a decent chance that they will open it. I would just send some wrapping paper with your cousin. I wouldn't bother wrapping it.

They have the right to open whatever they want to check for whatever they want. sucks. I brought a bunch of stuff to the US from Thailand and used those little gift bags and tissue paper. That was allowed

If your really want to wrap it, just use a giftbag instead. So, if they check, you can just quickly put tissue paper in it after it gets checked.

only if there is a reason to question the contents. if you are carrying batteries or some kind of remote controlled item. Anything electronic, I expect them to ask to see it and would be VERY surprised if they did not want to look.

they probably just x-ray your entire suitcase. opening every suit case would take to much time. if they do open up the suit case they probably will scan the package
