My son got caught with pot less then 2 pounds and a pipe. He's only 16 so I want to know what is a class 6 felony and this is his first offense.

See if you can get a jury trial out of it, and get whatever lawyer you can to work off the "jury nullification" aspect. This is your son's first offense, it doesn't sound like he was dealing, and there's a damn good possibility the jury will agree that your son's personal use of cannabis, while probably not in his best interests, isn't harming anyone else and isn't worthy of locking him up.

You need to specify what state you are in and whether the prosecutor plans to charge your son as an adult. I've never heard the term "class 6 felony" or if such a classification even exits, but I am sure the penalty in California would be different than say Texas or New York. Your best bet is to see a local criminal defense attorney.
