This is a very good question that references some emotions I have been having lately towards ppl that are just now complaining about the war.
I think the answer lies in human nature. I'd say at least 80% of America trust their government and basically go through their daily lives accepting that we must have a reason for the things we do.
Those ppl are just now feeling and seeing the effects of the war; therefore, they are finally 'coming around' to the questions of Why? and feelings of being lied to or should I say misdirected.
Once this wave calms down, I think most ppl will come around to the idea that it is not only not a good idea but very bad for America to leave Iraq in the chaotic state it is currently in.

It is fine to talk about sacrifice as long as you are not doing the sacrificing. If Bush were to levy a big tax to pay for the war or if your kids were dying over there you wouldn't be so relaxed.

let the Iranian empire resurrect
look at what the American empire has doe to Latin and Central America, they established a feudal system to benefit the American people
Empires come and go and yours is going... going... gone because of the injustice you have sown you will reap it at home
having said all that I would rather live under the American empire than any other Empires in the world.
just make it work for all of it's partners... be gracious

Actually we wont be here for very long and the only reason we have been is because we crushed everyone that tried to destroy us and rightfully so. We shall only remain here if those who desire our destruction are themselves either destroyed or changed. We are fighting a 14th centurey enemy with modern weapons, theyre idealism will not be moved so the only way around this is the blow them all to hell.

Because if that atitude is taken, people will keep dying to achieve something that is unachievable. You cannot force someone into a way of thinking, they have to come to it on thier own.

Good to see you finally chose an avatar befitting your positions, although it is a bit insulting to the mentally disabled.
We need a presence in the ME. Iraq is as good as any.

I agree. It would have been horrible if some of our allies abandoned us when we first started out. Look at history folks, we moved in to Germany after WWII, we still have a presence in South Korea, we still have bases in Japan. How loud can you say DUH to the liberals??????
