They'd rather milk the tax-payers with faith-based initiatives.

It's just too hard to do. You effectively have to fund both systems currently, and there's no sign that's going to change anytime soon. Unless people are given tax credits for not using the public school system, there's just not enough $ to go around to fund this idea.
By the way, there are still some very good public schools and not all Christian schools are great, either.

Catholics still have that school system, but supporting it is a problem (at least here in Dallas) because of the incredible losses the dioceses had when it lost the lawsuit to the victims of the pedophliac priest, Rudy Kos.

Home based education is more efficient. Home taught kids tend to have higher grades and score better than public school kids.
I don't see how having an established system is better than having a home based system with access to the best in training materials.
To answer your question: Christian Home schooling is more efficient, more cost effective and gets better results than formal schools, public or private.

Although he is a catholic (the weird kind, like Mel Gibson) you should search for Tom Monoghan and the Ave MAria foundation, which is building a whole little city in Florida, where they control the real estate...and hence no birth control will be sold in pharmacies, no dirty movies at the rental place, no secular music in the stores, etc...at HIS expense. No, I shouldn't have to pay for that...hell, I shouldn't have to pay for ANY schools, since I don't have children!

What a great question! I hvve always wondered why they don't just start their own religious system. The purpose of having a public school system is to make sure young cictizens get a well-rounded secular education. I've always believed that groups who want a religous education for their children shouldn't try to shove it down the throats of the rest of us, too.

And can we have all the property tax money we pay to fund public education?
Oh, you want us to fund both systems. Well, we already do.
You are also misrepresenting what we want in education. Just because we oppose the indocrination of liberalism and humanism into public education does not mean we want to teach religion.

Democrats are taxing America to death leaving little extra income to pay for private school. In effect, Democrats are forcing Americans to pay for corrupt, failing, socialist / atheist education.
