windows update?

I have enabled my windows update to automatic.......but I want to know if my system actually updates.....are the updates being downloaded promptly……I know it updates in the background……..but where can I find the downloaded updates files information in my system….and one more thing…how often does windows update???????

1. The system does actually update
2. It downloads and updates in the background, you can keep on working while it's doing that
3. You can find the files by going to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and click on the Show updates box at the top. When the list loads, start scrolling down the list. You will see all of the updates shown there. Otherwise, they are in various systems.
Close Control Panel and leave them alone.
4. Windows updates as often as Microsoft thinks it is necessary to release updates. There is no set time period.

You can go to the update page and view you history. You can all look in you Add and Remove Programs. Just click the box at the top that says Show Updates.

You system will only update the Critical ones so you will have to go to the site to get the optional ones.

Updates come about 2 times a month.
the log file is in windows\windowsupdate.log

Most of the files are going to the system32 directory depending on the updates

If windows is updating you will see a World icon in the sys tray. If you hover over it, it will tell you what it is doing (downloading, installing, etc).

You can change the time it searches for updates, (Start, control panel, windows update) and alter the time
