NEVER ever send your packages through other people especially strangers. What guarantees can you get if it gets "lost", "pilfered" or "damaged". Also DO NOT accept packages from strangers. Remember the Bridget Jones movie?
Send it through DHL, FEDEX, UPS or other couriers. These companies can provide you guarantees if your package gets lost or delayed. I think the Philippines is the base of FEDEX in the Asia Pacific region. As suggested here try http://www.filgifts.com or other online gift shops.
Concord flights are not cheap. So if you want it fast, you have to spend for it.

Find a Balibyan Box by computer or ask at your local Phil Am store. This box costs a flat fee but you can put as much weight in it as you can stuff in there. These boxes are advertised in all the Stateside Phil Am newspapers. The last one I sent cost $125, but I had it so heavy that two of us could hardly move it. To send the same weight Postal would have cost near a $1000.

Brace yourself this is going to be expensive. Ready? Buy a ticket for the philippines and hand deliver. No? My two tours in Korea told me that FED-EX is the fastest.

I have used Johnny Air before and they are much better than any other carrier, beside, they know every trick in the book. It takes three to five days max from LAX to Manila during business days. I send a letter and cost me $8 dollars and was deliverd in three days. My filipino employees in LA use Johnny all the time for shipping and they are cheaper than any other delivery companies. Good luck!

Hope you're not trying to get something there in time for Christmas. You and thousands of your closest friends.
I've gone FedEx and DHL to get stuff there. It's fast and you get a tracking number. Pricey, but you get what you pay for.
If you have time, then I'd go w/ the balikbayan box. That's literally on a slow boat, so you need to allow a lot of lead time (3 mos?) for your box to arrive. I mean, how else do you figure they could transport loads of stuff for $75/box?

You have your choices: FedEx, UPS, DHL and other couriers. You can also use the US Postal Service which is cheaper. Or, you can go through Filipino/Asian stores who have their own courier services called "balikbayan boxes".
Personally, I use the US Postal Service. It does take some time but it gets there safely and doesn't take a lot of money.

You can send it via Federal Express or DHL or on an air cargo for airport to airport arrangements in which the next day can reach its destination.

I use FOREX from Australia and it takes about 4 weeks.
costs about $120 for a large box.
