Try your local craft store (Hobby Lobby, Jo-Ann, Michael's) and they should have candlemaking supplies for you there. The website below is very helpful for starting out and has tips for vets, too.
I will suggest, though, that you buy a cheap kit, just to try it out for the first time and get your feet wet (not literally, that might hurt!) so that you don't end up spending lots of money on more quality supplies and have you find that you don't like it or you're allergic to essential oils or something! If nothing else, you will use the kit, find that you love it and have some basic supplies on which to build your own supply. Good luck =)

The site below is one I use in making my own candles. A lot of times even the better craft stores don't have the things I want. I don't want to make "dollar store" candles, ya know? Sometimes I can find the better waxes and oils at Michaels....but I use this place to order online. They are reliable, and seem to deliver rather quickly.

I made a really neat candle using old candle wax. I used candle wax that had dripped off all sizes and colors of candles and filled the holes with fresh wax and added a wick. It didn't burn too well but looked really neat. I've made a couple since then and people ask me where I bought it lol.

Hi.
If you want to make candles there are so many good sites to choose from:
You can actually take a free online course in candle making here:
http://artisanschool.com/courses/
Candle Making Techniques has very good explanations and pictures of different subjects, especially the basics stuff:
Site: http://www.candletech.com/
Basics: http://www.candletech.com/basicinstructions.htm
And for all sorts of ideas, projects, news, tips and more candle making related daily information, you can visit my candle making blog:

Some of the starting kits look really good, and you can make "real" candles by using them, but if you'd rather start with buying different supplies, here are some recommended suppliers:
Bitter Crick: http://www.bittercreek.com/
Cierra Candles: http://www.cierracandles.com/
Remember that shopping local can save you money, so here is full list of suppliers sorted by the US states:
http://www.fragranceoilreviews.com/csbs.html
And - the most important thing - don't forget to have fun too :-) Good luck!
Eran
