My boss takes the things that vendors brings for the employees and gives them to friends and family. Has anyone else experienced this?

These are things that the vendors bring in and say to people, "Here, this is for you." You can't have it unless you are told you can have it EVEN THOUGH it was given to you! Basically, he takes stuff away from employees to give to someone else.

I think I've done that before. I wouldn't consider it THE gift, though. I'd probably say, "Hey, I got this from a vendor and thought you would like it." But then get them a real gift.

I work for a big company (in UK) and anyone who is in a 'decision making capacity' (i.e. a Manager) is not permitted to accept gifts of any kind.

This is because accepting gifts can end up with accusations of bribery & corruption from other vendors/suppliers who did not get the contract.

So (at least in my company) often gifts end up with the junior employees (of course some Managers lie & cheat the system, however that's something to remember & use later)

we use to do something like that because usually we got alot of the same things but the vendors always gave us more then the employees we had. so we would give them to family and friends just cause we thought theyd like them but not as a gift. just to say here i got this for you. but no we never wrapped them up as a gift.
