No! Remember with everything, every baby develops differently. Besides, my doc says milk only in the bottle until year one. She also says to use a sippy cup for juice and water and then at a year put milk in a sippy cup. Your baby still need the majority of its nutition from Breast milk or Formula until year one, and you want to make sure she is getting enough. A sippy cup is for the drinking when she is just thirsty.

I found one of the "straw" sippy cups and my baby is down to drinking his milk from an actual bottle to once a day, sometimes he drinks it all from his cups. My son is almost 11 months and I too have a problem getting him to drink from a sippy cup. He doesn't like to hold it up to get the liquid from the bottom, but he will sit and suck down on it till I help him. I found playskool and playtex have the best because the straws are very soft and bendable (like the nipple from a bottle in the shape of a straw) so he doesn't hurt his mouth. They also have a sort of "valve" in the lid that holds the liquid in the straw so it wouldn't be just like giving her a cup and a straw. (which is really a different concept because they have to create a constant suction to keep liquid in the straw) but if she doesn't take to it don't worry, especially since she's not a year yet, this was just something I tried in the off chance it would make the transition easier for my son, every baby is different and you'll find something that will work for both of you

There's nothing to worry about. I have a 14 month old & he still prefers the bottle, although sometimes he drinks from a sippy cup. Training your baby with a sippy cup takes a LOT of time and patience, so don't get upset or push her too hard with the cup, eventually she'll learn how to adjust at her own phase..slowly, but surely. Good Luck!

My daughter was the same way. There is a really good "transitional" cup sold at Walmart with a very soft, almost "bottle-like" tip called Nuby. They come in many colors and are pretty inexpensive. They are easy to put together and do not have the separate piece to prevent spilling, however they are great at not leaking all over the place. If you've heated up the milk in her bottle, continue to do so with this cup for a while and see how she does. Good luck!

She's fine - 9 months is still pretty young to switch to a sippy cup. I would stop forcing it now and try again when she's a year old. In the meantime, you can try giving her water in a sippy cup throughout the day to get her used to the idea of the cup and so she gets more comfortable with it. Once she starts using it, I think you will find the transition from bottle to sippy cup much easier.
Good luck!

As you said your baby is 9 mos old. I would start worrying when your baby is walking into pre-school with a bubba. My son refused the cup till he was 3. There is no scheduled time for your child to stop drinking the bottle when parent and child are ready it will happen. Take your time and don't stress over it.

Have her switch by the time she is a year old. My son refused to take a sippy cup until a week before he turned a year old and the day after he turned 1 I never gave him another bottle and he didn't have any problems.

I actually have a daughter that became a year a week in the past. I even have been entering into the process the comparable struggles. My older infants did super with the transition. I took away the bottle on their 1st birthday and gave them point 2 sippy cups that weren't the comparable through fact those they were utilising for small quantities of juice/water for the few months earlier. She must be associating the cup with juice, so attempt finding out to purchase some diverse styles of point 2 cups to verify what she likes. My daughter hates the Nuby type, yet seems to do lots greater suitable with the Playtex type. It took some week to regulate to the spout (think of saturated outfits, milk drops on the floor). i'm nonetheless nursing, nonetheless, two times an afternoon, so if she is refusing the milk in a cup, i'm going to provide it to her in a bottle. our young ones are nonetheless youthful, so forcing them to alter for my area is somewhat over the actual. infants choose transition and convenience nonetheless. I do each and every thing in increments and it suits her nicely (all infants have diverse character varieties and a few do greater suitable with transitions than others) and issues get carried out quite rapidly. good success! i might take her finding out to purchase and permit her touch all categories of cups to verify what she hangs onto the main - then provide them a attempt! it is going to take place quickly. :)

it's allright for a 9 month old to still be taking a bottle, don't worry about it. the transition that i did with my kids was to first give them a sippy cup with a rubber mouthpiece, nubby makes a good one. it's much more similar to a nipple, so the adjustment will be a lot easier. i got my kids on it at 12 months and they did just fine. and then we went from the sippy cup to a straw cup with no problems. good luck!

Nothing to worry about. My son is 1 year old, and he still drinks milk out of the bottle, and doesn't want any part of cups. Eventually our children will break out of it.
