not everybody is maternal. It doesn't make you less of a woman. Maybe you have a bigger and better purpose in life to fulfil than being a parent.

Why do you hate little children? Something must have happened to you as a child or in a relationship to make you feel this way. You dont have to like them. Growing up I was never a fan of children but now I am a mother of 2 and I would not trade them for anything! I love my children and I love to work with children of all ages especially the younger ones b/c they say the darnest things! I hope hate is an exaggeration and not literal, b/c this would be a sad thing to feel and say.

Hello,
I understand your sentiments but its NOT very good to generalise about small children and babies. First of all not "all" children or babies are annoying & ugly, I would say a truer statement might be that you find "some" little children annoying & ugly, be specific who's children, or some children (dont tar "all" children with the same brush!! thats abit unfair & unkind).
**OK! so your female and DONT feel the same way as others about children or babies. I cannot see that there is anything wrong with that view point, if that's how you feel fair enough. We are all different thank goodness & wouldnt the world be dreadful if we were all the same. (no wonder I dont think cloning is a good idea?).
**Look at it another way (from a slightly different view point). Some woman have very strong paternal desires & urges and they actively want to have a family, then there are other woman who have little or no paternal feelings at all. Then there are woman who would like to have children & have the paternal desire but for one reason or naother cannot have children (awefull and heart braking!!).
**Just because you are female DONT automatically assume you should feel a certain way, who's saying you should feel a certain way (what voice in your head?) we are all individuals, no to people are going to feel exactly the same on these things.
**Perhaps you dont feel like other woman but theres nothing neccessarily wrong with that, perhaps if anything I think your judging yourself rather harshly in my opinion.
**I'm a man and yet I dont want children, have no desire to have my own. Yet I can still really enjoy & care for other peoples children or babies.

I think there is a societal expectation that all women are supposed to be, do, this or that and yeah, I am aware of that women are 'supposed' to like, love children, etc. etc. but in my opinion, I am sure that isn't accurate. I am sure all women do not love little children, they can indeed be annoying, etc...on the other hand, there are many things that are wonderful about them, but I am not going to try to convince you since you've obviously made up your mind...You are entitled to not like little children, create them, or any of that regardless of what society 'tells' you. If you know little kids though you should not be mean to them though, and don't expect alot of sympathy or concurrence from most on this subject...Good Luck!

I can find children aggravating at times, but hate, no. I guess there are ugly and handsome children just as there are adults, but its sad to have to apply those labels on kids, let alone as adults. There is no rule saying that because you have a uterus, you should love children or be a nurturing person. I would just try to keep in mind that children for the most part are innocent, and deserve our protection and at the very least your courtesy.

you're entitled to not be around children, but hating is an extreme word. Aren't we having a lot of hate around the world already: Jews hated by Christians, Americans hating Hispanics, British hating Muslims, and the list goes on.

I have accepted my dislike of the little brats now and am totally comfortable with my choice. How are they going to learn not to run in Supermarkets if I don't secretly stick a toe out to trip them up? Let's face it the mothers never give enough of a toss to keep an eye on them. I have always disliked children since I was one myself and was mortified when I realised that girls had to do that job. I had to sit through a film (12A) the other week with a teenager who bought her (couldn't have been more than 18 months) baby which made loud cries and pretend speak all the way through the film. Then to make matters worse it began toddling and crawling between all the aisles. I complained to the usher. I don't give a ****. People paid good money to see the film and either couldn't hear or concentrate on watching it. Don't feel bad about not liking them, some of us have to be intellegent and sane. Good luck to ya girl!Agree with you about the ugly thing too.
PS Ivan.... I think you mean maternal urges. See what I mean about those of us who aren't keen, much more intellegent.

I would"nt chose the campany of small children.I have always prefered to make a fuss of a puppy than a baby.
However I love my children and adore my grandchildren.
I dont hate children and would never ignore them if they approached me.
Like and love are different.

It's ok you don't have to want kids or even like them very much but to say you hate them - it's a bit extreme isn't it? What do you feel when you look at a picture of yourself as a child?

Genetically speaking, I think you are supposed to be pre-disposed to liking children, so if you don't that means you are special - a super hero, with the ability to not like kids
