This is an excellent question. There were treaties signed and laws put in place, after the U.S. developed the first Nuclear bomb in order to prevent any further nuclear weaponry.
This is called the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and was signed by 62 countries in 1968 and while time limited, it was put back into effect with a vote [171 countries agreed}in the UN in 1995.
The UK, USA, and Soviet Union pledged not to help with any nuclear technology with any country, and those without nuclear weapons pledged not to even try to build nuclear weapons. The countries that did not have weapons would recieved assistance in developing Nuclear Power for Peaceful reasons such as energy.
Iran broke this international law by pretending to build nuclear energy plants while in fact conspiring to build WMD.They therefore have been found to have broken their promise and they have broken international laws.
To enforce the international laws, such as this we have the Geneva Convention [which are also not followed], the Security Council Resolutions and the NATO alliance.
You break a law you have to answer for it.

Given the history and general disposition of Iran, and the forms of government that have run the area for more generations than you can count, it would be grossly irresponsible to allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons. the mere fact that they have nuclear technology and multiple hundreds of enrichment centrifuges is a scary enough fact. god help us, if we leave it up to the U.N. to oversee that program.
Also, The U.S. while having used atomic weapons for offensive purposes, the general development of them was to be used as a defensive posture to deter traditional military action against us by other countries. Iran has repeatedly, within the current regime, expressed a desire to offensively strike at Israel, to effectively remove the country as we know it from the map, its people, and furthermore hold western interests at bay, to further the causes solely in the interest of Iran and the fringe element of radical islam. To continue to allow them to control us and the negotiations as they have will be nothing but a large scale downfall of western civilization and freedoms. think world war two..only on a much larger scale physically, politically, economically, and ideologically.

It's a matter of power, not divine right.
The viewpoint is that a country needs to hit a certain level of political stability and maturity before it can posess nuclear weapons.
Generally countries that already have a program obviously are allowed to continue it (because there's no way to stop it) but countries developing a program are discouraged from doing so.
The thinking is Iran has a realistic threat of actually using such weapons on countries like Israel, so this should be discouraged.

because Iran wants it for immorally purposes, they are going to use the weapons against the USA and any other nation they dislike. Would you give your enemy a gun knowing that they hate you and would do anything to destroy you? Besides going to a nuclear warfare is not going to be pretty and no one should have it anyways.

We're not talking about a yo-yo. We're talking about the ability to kill millions in a millisecond and turn an entire city into a ditch. Anyone who doesn't think that the number of countries that can do that should be limited is, no offense, out of their mind.

Because Iran....... IS ******* PSYCHOPATHIC JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE MUSLIM WORLD!!!!! I really believe that these people are like, there is something wrong with them. Theyre worse than teenagers who have played too many videogames, they literally get joy out of killing anyone who crosses their path. They enjoy cold blooded murder.

USA INVENTED nuclear weapons while Iran has shown repeatedly that they cannot be allowed to have them for the good of humanity.
Ask yourself what Hitler would have done with nukes.

its the same thing, if your enemy ran out of bullets, and you had a pocket full of bullets, and you knew he would shot at you, with them, you would not give him any.
