Is today's rap & hip hop music true to what the genre was originally about? Are today's artist as skilled as the ikes of Eric B & Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest, DJ Quik etc, etc?

Eminem has an extreme facility with words, Kanye's contradictions are fascinating, Clipse and Mobb Deep are like hip hop noir - these are just a few of the shades of hip hop today. Sure if it was all Li'l Jon I'd agree with you...

I think most of dem are true and some are just out to make ,money.

Well i think they are skilled in the generation we are now.
if we take most rap artist back to the times of eric B & Rakim etc i think they will or might do better.

Nothing stays the same and it would be pretty bland to stay with songs from the era you are describing. Even back then you had your good and bad hip/hop and rap; just like now. As music evolves it usually does so with the way the culture is too. So I think it's just as good, if not better, than before.

no one today can touch the skill of q-tip.....tribe did all original...none of the sampling b.s. that's put out these days....
