My friend tells me to shift into 3rd before going in reverse each time because it is better, is it true?

No reverse is not synchronized,but its better to have it in a forward gear before shifting in reverse,with the clutch depressed this keeps the pilot shaft,from turning the gears to eleimate grinding when putting into reverse.

Never heard of such a thing. Reverse is not a synchronized gear. that it why sometimes it is necessary to "clutch" the transmission to get it to go into reverse.

No. Modern manual transmissions don't use synchronizers. The only transmissions currently in use that use a sync are semi trucks and Formula 1 cars.

I've never heard that. Honestly, it doesn't even make sense. Unless your friend is a mechanic, I wouldn't hold it to truth.

No synchros are reset using a computer modulator.
