First I think you are crazy. The Wii is a novelty and will basically die off on it's own in a short time in that sense. The excitement isn't going to take long to die. Seriously though it makes Nintendo look BETTER, maybe THEY intentionally made the strap weak so that they could get attention. Shows how many they sold since they have to replace so many. Yeah they sold well and I won't deny that. That doesn't make them superior. As to the strap breaking it is people who can't figure out how to use the dumb thing. They don't know how to be GENTLE.

I can't wait to get a Wii and see how hard you really have to throw the controller until it breaks! This console is already a hit, and I want to have a go =(
As for conspiracies... people see conspiracies in everything nowadays !

Well, if it is a conspiracy, then they are going to great lengths about it as there is now a product being sold to strengthen the straps.

The straps on earlier models were thinner. Besides, if you own a wii, you can always upgrade your strap (www.nintendo.com) if you have the thinner strap and need the thicker one It's free..

Have you seen how thin the strap is!? The part that goes around your wrist is pretty thick but the piece that connects it to the remote is what's snapping. It's about as big around as the tip of a pencil. (Give or take).

This is true i have a wii and you'd have to be playing pretty damn hard for it to break. Unless of coarse it was set up to break. Wii have a problem!

I don't think it is a conspiracy of console manufacturers; I think it is consumers trying to find a lawsuit and make money.

Sony knows the end is near, the PS3 will be their downfall. I wouldn't be surprised if they're secretly running the anti-Wii campaign.
