Money simply amplifies what is already present. If you are a miserable grump of a hag then the money will make it more so.
If you are truly a happy person the money will only make it better.
Sure even a grump might be happy for a short time with some money but their way of life always surfaces and shows the real them in the long run.

You have a good perspective. I don't believe money can buy happiness. It makes day to day living a easier. I knew an elderly lady who blessed me and she did not have money, but she was rich. Rich in love, in encouragment, in wisdom
I know a guy who has tons of cash and his life is a wreck. He misused his money.
Happiness is a part of who we are, our inner self. I beleive giving is key to our happiness. If you have little give out of the little you have, if you have a lot, give a lot more. I'm learning this.

If used properly I think money can allow you the luxury to pursue happiness. I'd be happy being a student the rest of my life, if I had the money to afford not to work and to pay tuition, I'd be happy. So it helps, but doesn't give happiness by itself.

well, seeing as happiness is a particular brain state, what you are actually asking is, can (having) money affect the state of your brain? brain states are affected by countless numbers of things. the question doesn't make sense in its traditional form and is unanswerable.
think of similar questions: can i go out now and buy some misery? where can i find somewhere to buy a slight feeling of unease? i would like a certain amount of elation (but not too much), do you know where i can get it?

Ussually people with a lot of money, say money doesn´t buy happiness.
But specially if you are a parent, how can you be happy, when you know you don´t have enough money, to buy a medecine your kid needs, or simply give them their basic needs, food, clothes, shelter, etc.
In the world we live today, money may not assure you happiness, but if you don´t have enough money I can assure you several unhappy moments

Since happiness cannot be universally quantified in a way that is applicable for everyone, it is impossible to establish a possible universal causation for happiness (be it money or anything else for that matter).
However, we could deduce if money would buy you happiness by simply (ha) deducing what happiness means to you.

No, but it makes a good down payment. Money gives you a form of freedom and a lot of choice options, as long as you keep it in perspective, and are not given over to the sole seeking of wealth.

Money can't buy true happiness, but it allows you to rent it for a while!
