if it is on your wic, it is an intruductory food. Get it and offer it. Your baby might not like alot of it, but should try it. They would not give you anything that would hurt your baby. They gave it to you early so your baby can try to start to taist it. If your baby likes it, then great.

Personally, I would not give a 6 month old any juice, whatsoever. It starts bad nutritional habits, even when mixed with water. Trust your instincts in waiting at least until the child is a year old. Both the World Health Organization and American Academy of Pediatrics believe that breastmilk (or formula) should be the primary source of nutrition for infants for the entire first year. Juice really doesn't offer much in the way of nutritional value, even if no sugar is added. Just check out the label. Besides getting an extra dose of vitamin C, it offers nothing to your child, other than a taste for sweets which will only be something they'll want more of when they're older.

I started giving my oldest apple juice (not from concentrate) when she was about 18 months old. 1/3 juice, 2/3 water and limited it to 2 cups a day (no more than 6 oz. per day). Now she's almost 4 and has no idea that juice can be drunk straight. She thinks that juice is supposed to be mixed with water! After she's had her limit for the day, we offer her either water or milk, and she has no problem with the alternatives because we instilled the healthy habit early on.

And just because WIC says it's OK, doesn't necessarily mean it's best for your kid. You can bet that in a couple of years they WON'T offer it because the FDA says too many kids are overweight and have diabetes.

I would say anytime between 6 and 9 months. Not all the time just once in a while. You do not want to turn his/her taste buds from the formula/breastmilk. They need all the nutrients and fat from the "milk" Also, lots of juice can lead to diarrhea. I recommend Juicy Juice over other juices because it is 100% Juice and doesn't have lots of added sweetners.

It is really up to you when you would like to introduce it. Remember to start out in small portions maybe 4oz. Water it down to a 50/50 mix so it is not that tasty to the infant.

the good thing about juicy juice is that it is 100% juice so at whatever time your child can begin to tolerate regular juice (even if watered down to cut the acid) you can give it to them...ask you pediatrician about it...also if you have nothing else to get with wic other than the juice go ahead and stock up...its canned, has a long shelf life and trust me your gonna need it

At 6 months, their primary nutrition should be milk-breast or formula. It probably doesn't hurt to give a little juice at 6 months, but cut it with water so they aren't getting so much sugar. Juices are very sugary (natural sugar and otherwise). Nutrition wise, the fruit is better than the juice for kids and adults.

The pediatrician usually tells you that you can start giving your baby juice around 6-7 months of age

My pediatrician recommended not starting juice until 8 months old, and below is a link to a Baby Center article that agrees. Once you do introduce juice, make sure you dilute it with water, as others have mentioned.

At 6 months it is just find to offer 100% juices, watered down of course :) like half juice and half water, I did this with all three of my babies and they have never had a problem with it :)
