What is the best way to remove candle wax from various types of dishes and holder (even jars) after the candle has burned down? I saw on a previous Yahoo Answers question that one might put a glass dish in the freezer for a few hours. Does this work for other types of dishes? Is there anything to be careful of?

I'm not sure freezing crystal is a good idea. I would lace it in hot water until the wax softens and then peel it off. Use a toothick to get it from crevices. Then wash with hot water and dish detergent. I like to use candle rings to help avoid this problem.

Put some aluminum foil on a cookie sheet cover with two layers of paper towels and put the dish upside down on top of the paper towels and put this into your oven on its lowest setting (usually 160-175). Within 5-10 minutes, all of the wax should be melted out and you can wipe out the rest. If there is any oily residue, it can now be easily cleaned out with warm water and soap. I have been making candles for 8 years and have had to clean up many wax 'issues' :)

Run the dish under very hot water, until the wax is pliable enough to peel or scrape off

I usually spray any glass with Pam cooking oil, or rub veggie oil on the glass before putting in a votive or larger candle..the melted wax will slide right out.

If I forget.. I put the glass with the melted wax in the freezer..the melted wax shrinks and it pops right out.

yes! i've done it myself. just stick it in the freezer and teh wax will come right off. the only problem you might have is with plastic dishes which can absorb some of the color of the candle.

I run HOT water over my candleholders, and wipe the melted wax away. I have also heated them up in the microwave to do this also, but be careful about what you put in the microwave.

My mom puts it in the oven so the wax melts and quickly dumps it into the sink/outside and rinses it off before it has a chance to harden again. :]
