I would greatly appreciate any tips and advice and/or experiences about your quitting. How long did you smoke for and how many times did it take you to quit? Did you go cold turkey or did you implement some other method to quit? What made you finally stop?
I apologize for the million questions but I am trying to find the momentum to quit smoking again and I am finding it rather difficult to do.

The first and most important step in quitting smoking is that you must really want to quit.
Then, you need to flush your system of all that nicotine, so drink a lot of water. This also prevents you from eating too much food, which can turn into another addiction. You will also need to build up your vitamin c, and there is one thing that has been proven to work when quitting smoking: Grapefruit Juice or Cranberry Juice, or a mixture of both. Not only is this really good for you, it speeds the flushing steps.
Be patient with this, and be patient with yourself. Set a goal, and for every dollar you'd have spent on a pack of butts, put in in a clear jar...a big huge jar...and watch that pile of cash grow! Restrain yourself from using that money until you can use it to meet that goal. In fact, put a picture of what you want over the jar as a reminder.
If you get nudgy or fidgety go for a walk and breathe deeply every few breaths. Quicken your pace every day as you walk. Go somewhere different, if you can. If you need to satisfy the craving, remember this: you need to occupy your hands and fingers more than the mouth. Really! So carry a ball or a stick. Keep a pencil or soemthing in your hand at work, too. Don't go overboard to satisfy the oral urges, though. That'll only create a crutch you really don't need.
I smoked for too many years, and this worked for me. You always feel the urge to smoke, but you will see the money saved, and smell and taste things like never before. You will feel better, small better, and you will certainly look better, and this helps the overall attitude like you won't believe.
Be patient. it takes great courage to do this. David Kicked Goliath's butt, you need to kick yours. Keep the goal in sight.

I smoked for over forty years and was smoking 2+ packs of Camels a day when I decided to quit. And I did five or six times till I got help. First I cut my smoking by making sure I only smoked 2 packs a day (easy). Then I allowed myself 35, then after 2 weeks 30, two more weeks 25, two more week 20. Things started getting a little tense at this point but I got to fifteen, then ten and I put on the patch. I wore the 22mg. (if I remember) for about six months and then the lower patches (12&6) or something like that, for three months each. It's hard to do, get gum, something to punch and a box to put your head in to scream into, You have to want to do it and if you really want to you can.

I smoked over a pack a day for 4 years... quit by changing my patterns and cutting my cig's to only a few puffs here and there. Then down to nothing. It took me 1 week of less then I did not do my trigger actions for 1-2 weeks.... Breaks at work, talking long on the phone, driving long distances, eating big meals, DRINKING alcohol !!!!!!! So reconditioning my life... Good luck

I smoked on and off for about two years. I finally decided to stop because of my personal perception of myself. I didn't the smell of smoke, nor did I like the fact that smoking taints the color of your teeth. What I did to quite was I intentionally bought the wrong type of cig and refused to smoke them and refused to buy some more. My logic was that as long I had some cig I didn't need to buy anymore until they were gone, and at the same time I knew I didn't like Kool cig so I wouldn't smoke them. But I left them in a spot where I saw them everyday. After about a month of not smoking them I threw them away and haven't smoked since. Maybe out of that pack of 20 I smoked 1/2 of one. But that worked for me, it was basically my will to quit, I didn't want smelly clothes, yellow teeth or an increased chance of a medical risk.

Good for you for quitting or at least thinking about it.
I know it may sound weird, but I quite by switching to Skoal bandits...the little packets of snuff. It's not very lady like, but it really worked..It was much easier to taper off using Skoal.

I wish I could help girl but I don't have any experience with that but I have other addictions that I have been sober from for awhile...but we will talk off line...later.
