God I Love these Questions!!! And I Love Hip Hop Music!!! I think Nas is giving us a glimpse into the not so Far off future. If these younger artists don't get their stuff together it will be dead. We need to go back to the fundamentals of what this music used to stand for, a voice for a generation that was upset about there present condition and would do anything to change it. And it was about lyrics, wordplay, flow and style whoever had better skills won, not who had the most money.

Hip-Hop is definitely dead as it once was. Was is out there now is still good music by good artists. But it is not hip-hop as it was. So to alot of people, it is dead. I would agree. There seems to be very little substance in the words that are put out there in rap music now. There are only a few that still get it.

It's to be expected with anything that get's as big as rap has. It gets diluted by major corporations looking only to make a gagillion dollars. When any kind of music gets like this, it always becomes just another form of Pop music.

I wouldnt say it is dead but i say it isnt getting any better. I mean the hip hop now all sounds the same. They just tweak the beat a lil and the voices of the singers are different. The Hip-Hop music now isnt as true as you would listen to it back in the day where all the songs had meaning to them.

I disagree. Because Hip Hop is well more known than it was maybe 2-3 years ago. And I think that it has become way more poular. And I think that my generation loves it that's why the charts are booming with Hip Hop.

It isn't dead, but it is on the decline. Hey it's been around for over 20 years and it will ebb and flow like all other genres. However, while mainstream rap seems to be on the decline, other forms have developed, underground hip hop is thriving and hopefully this will inspire mainstream artists to evolve in a positive way.

kind of what they are really saying is that the the purpose of hip hop has been lost now people just rhyme about stupid things and the songs have no true meaning or message
