I have to admit that there are facets of the American female I have found 'attractive,' and the same goes with the English too. But, I've found that the Continental - Dutch, French, Italian, Danish etc have 'styles' about them (I wish I could find a better word than 'style' - sigh) that separates and puts them ahead of the first two.
American girls I 'generally' find to full of themselves, too brash and outspoken - without the wherewith-awl to hear themselves, particularly when they shriek 'Oh My God.'
Someone described this as being 'honest.' Yes, true, but do I want to hear an honest parrot SHRIEKING ~ often?
English girls have a reputation for the Charlotte Church 'Ladette' boozy falling down type, while carrying sexual transmitted diseases and yet another child from yet another guy.
Both the American & the English girls are generally ill-educated and can't talk 'propa' - nor write propa nor even 'old a pencil propa. The American version has handwriting that mixes tHE uPPer and loWer caps without discretion - and might well call it 'style,' but which lacks any grace.
Their women will, as has been reported, call upon the services of Sahra Ferguson in order to give their planned event some 'Style' ....and which would be a very good joke, if it were one. But they are 'Serious,' and are seriously ignorant of what is meant by that word.
They misunderstand 'the Label' for 'the Content,' and similar to the use in both some Irish and American 'Country' music genre, where the sentimentality drowns in floods the sentiment it attempts to portray in the message.
Both the English and American counterparts will be up on the ‘Rules of Etiquette,’ but only as it pertains to them. Their ignorance and indifference to the etiquette and behaviours relating to other cultures is awful.
That’s my opinion based on ‘some’ American women / girls I have met and known over 30 years, and of the recent English version which put themselves out to be noticed. And I do appreciate that these are somewhat sweeping generalisations ….which is what the questioner was asking for.

I know both as I lived a long time in London and I am married to an American. I think that British women are nice as long as you do not expect them to do somethin in the house. As for the Americans they can be terrible b... Having said that my wife is the best woman I ever met and as a Frenchman I am happily married with her.

I should imagine that the majority of people would be able to find both attractive British and attractive American women out there.

I feel some people would base it on individual women rather than the nationality. Although I do realize that many of us nowadays look for someone of a different nationality/race... if not look but find them more appealing. British guys would probably prefer women with an American accent and vice versa.
depends on what you mean by "better".

They're different.
American girls: tend to be large, overweight, busty, hairy (but carefully shaven) noisy, brash, poorly-educated. If it weren't for the bust and they're almost indistinguishable from males.
British women tend to be flat-chested, often guilty of not shaving even a moustache, quieter and better-ducated.
Take your pick!

So I have to choose between ugly and slutty (British) and fat and slutty? That isn't much of a choice you know. If I HAD to choose, probably British because fat people smell.
I suggest a third alternative. Chinese. Well bred, attractive and chaste.

Better how? Better at what? Better in what way? You're in danger of winning the 'most vague question of the day' award.
