Mostly because of our unconditional support of Israel, but also because of our opposition to their having nuclear technology of any kind. They wonder... if we can have it, what exactly is wrong with them having it? The CIA also helped overthrow of the Shah of Iran, which was seen by some as being none of our business.

This is a very complicated question that has to do with a lot of history that goes way back.
In a nutshell, the USA has been getting involved with Iranian affairs for decades. We armed the Contras in the 80s. We assisted the Taliban against Russia in Afghanistan... on the borders of Iran.
There's a lot more but you get the idea. The point that most Americans don't like to hear is: we stick our nose in Iran's business a lot more than they attempt to stick their nose in ours.
Seriously, have you ever had an annoying neighbor that was just so darn nosey and constantly judging you? They get on your nerves and you reach a point where you are just sick and tired of them.

Because we threaten to invade their country. We tell them what they can and cannot do. The last time I checked, we did not have to ask for permission to become a Nuclear power. Why do they?
What makes America so much better than everyone else that we can go around policing every country and telling them what to do? That is the question.

The answer for it isn't current. It happened some time ago and Iranians haven't gotten over it.
The coup of 1953. Their democracy was replaced by a U.S. backed dictatorship.
Iranians also hate Israel and our support of it.

It's only the government that does. The majority (according to a Iranian contact I have) of them want to have more contact with the US. They like our society, music, and lots of other things(like freedom of speech) that we have in abundance.
