With politicians making up such a small percent of the population, but having a large and varying degrees of suspect, illegal and immoral behaviour. Do you think that such behaviour (alcoholism, drug addiction, adultry, pedophilia, porn addiction) is more wide spread then we have suspected in the general population.

Please no need to mention political affiliations this is a general question and I am sure we all watch the news, and are aware of certain individuals this applies to. Keep the name calling to yourself.

Probably more to do with the fact of the power that they yield. They believe they can get away with anything. I worked for a State agency and the Director allocated funds where they should not have gone and what happened to him...nothing. It would be easy as a person to fall into that mindset as a politician. I am sure many don't start out that way, but it just catches up with some.

Politicians are really people who want to be the center of attention. They are easily seduced by their own opinions of themselves, as are most self absorbed, immature people. When the reality hits that attention includes criticism, they want to escape back into the fantasy that they are the center of the universe, hence the addictions and "above the law" behavior.

Why would any emotional healthy person want a job so divisive and shallow in the first place?

I'm not sure whether the "depravity" rate is higher for politicians than for the population at large.

Certainly a politician in trouble garners more headlines than the average Joe and his troubles.

Marijuana is the USA's number one cash crop, porn is a multibillion dollar industry, divorce rates are at all time highs, and booze is everywhere....

There's a lot of denial out there.
