I used a towel to clean up some grease I spilled on my floor. I accidentally put the towel in a load of laundry instead of washing it alone. Now everything in that load smells like grease. I washed the load 3 times and still my clothes still smell like freid chicken! What can I do to get rid of this smell?!

Fill the machine with water, add a large box of Baking Soda, agitate until soda is dissolved. Add your clothes and agitate for a few minutes. Now turn the machine off and go to bed. I.E. Leave it to soak for several hours. Add some laundry detergent, and wash using the 2 Rinse setting if you have one. Launder again as usual but add freshener and you should be good to go. If your clothes still stink, talk with someone in a commercial dry cleaning business or trash the whole thing and replace the clothes.

I was an aircraft mechanic for many years and hated the motor oil smell I would get in my work clothes. The process I gave you above worked very well for my industrial situation. I have a lot of confidence it will handle your situation as well.

Good luck, BTW, if you aren't sure they have soaked long enough, they haven't. The longer they soak (within reason of course) the better the odds of success. I left a load soak for a full three day weekend once, it won't hurt the clothes.

I use a product called synthrapol, it was created for the removal of oils in fabric for the dyeing industry. I use it on my bath towels to get oils off (due to oily salt/sugar scrubs...the residual oils get rancid in the dryer).

Try using oxiclean in your wash. Or put baking soda in your wash!
