prayer. Honestly, though, the only thing I can think of that may not damage the carpet is mineral spirits. Problem is they are strong smelling and I'm not sure of their effect on latex paint. Best bet is to call your local paint store or Stanley Steemer. I really doubt you will get all tint out of the carpet regardless of what you use.

I would hesitate to recommend a chemical solvent. I think Latex is a water based paint but I am a rug guy not a paint guy. As Beej said you may want to call a paint store or home depot/lowes type store for a recommendation on what solvent to use. But once you have re-liquefied it, be sure to rub or brush lightly from the outer edge of the stain toward the center to prevent spreading or causing a ring when using a solvent. In that this has dried you will need to, saturate, blot, and brush repeatedly as often as necessary to remove the stain completely. Be sure not to mix any of the chemicals you may decide to try and be sure the room is well ventilated. Good Luck ricktheroo…

You won't be able to remove the paint. Most carpet installers will leave a small piece of the carpet with the homeowner when they install the carpet. If you have a piece, a good carpet installer will be able to cut out the ruined part and replace it with the piece you have. If you don't have any extra carpet, check nearby closets... maybe a closet was done with the same carpet and you can use that.
If your carpet isn't too old, you may be able to buy a piece of the same carpet if necessary.

I recently had to get some dark blue paint out of my carpet. At the recommendation of the painter I used 'Goof Off'. I believe you can get it at Home Depot, it comes in a yellow can with red letters. It smells really strong but it definately did the trick.

Mineral spirits will take it right out and there shouldn't be any lasting damage you can get mineral spirits for about $3 a gallon at any store that sells paint.

Try mineral spirits or paint thinner... those would probably be your best bet.
