If so, what was it like? Anything fun to do there?

Del Rio is not a very big place. Lake Amistad is about all that is around there. Up Hwy 90 is Bracketville. There are a few things there. Ft Clark has a museum and Alamo Village is there. Alamo Village was the site of the movie the Alamo with John Wayne.

Acuna is across the river and there are some nice restaurants there. As long as you stay close on the main drag where all the tourist are you are safe. Acuna has not had the problems that Laredo has seen.

I have been through Del Rio. I like to cross the border there to go into Mexico. Ciudad Acuna is not dangerous. There is some really fun shopping there. You dont need a passport this year to cross the border.

West of Del Rio is Langtry, where they have the Judge Roy Bean museum.

Lake Amistad is just outside of Del Rio.

As for Acuna, I would be careful crossing the border right now. The number of Americans crossing and not returning has been alarmingly high.
