Walking--makes baby put pressure on the cervix to help dilation.

Have sex--semen contains prostoglandins which can help thin the cervix and cause contractions--your partner must ejaculate inside you and you need to lie still for a little bit.

Nipple stimulation--this releases oxytocin which helps start contractions, dilate the cervix, and then the cervix. 20 minutes on, 10 minutes off, repeat for several hours if needed. A breast pump can be very helpful.

If you're starting to dilate, do not have sex. Walking is your best bet, normally walking doesn't induce labor but it does if you're dilating already. So walk A LOT. Go to a mall or park (depending on weather) and just walk with someone.

I tried walking, but the baby will come when he/she is ready. Let nature take it's course unless it's absolutely necessary for you to have it out...meaning an emergency.

It's OK b/c it was my due date and I found out I was barely thinned and I was HALF A CENTIMETER dilated. I didn't have my daughter until 6 days AFTER my due date. And I worked right up until the Friday before (and had her on a Sunday). So just let nature take its course.

Nothing to do but wait! I went 7 days overdue and they had to induce me finally.
Less than 20% of women have a baby on their due date. It should be a due two-weeks to make more since.
Baby will come when he comes (but walking, sex, spicy foods, and wishful thinking never hurt anyone either).

I would say not to worry about it and just to let it happen. I went from 2 cm to 9 cm within a period of 2 hours. It can happen super quick, you never know. It's just one of those things that can not really be controlled. Good luck!

There are all sorts of old wives tales out there pertaining to 'starting labor'. IMO, time is your best bet. With my last child, my midwife and I tried various things from stripping the cervix to blue/black cohash. Red wine was suggested as well as a 'hot as you can stand it' bath. I still went over my due date.

Baby isn't coming until he/she and the powers that be are ready for that baby to come! Best of luck to you!

Just let your body do its thing. No need to put a rush on it. Before you know you will be in labor. I would be resting to prepare for the delivery ahead. But if you insist on getting on with it, the best thing you can do is have sex, or go for a walk.

You can try sex if you actually feel like it. Or try walking or hiking. Nothing to crazy though. Or you can go to sleep and pray that it happens. That baby will get here when it does. It just sucks waiting though.

Walk, walk, walk. Get your heart pumping a little bit. I was in the same situation with my son so my husband and I spent the evening walking and the morning having sex. (sorry if tmi) But it worked!

This is what worked for me. I was at a restaurant and the waitress saw that I was uncomfortably pregnant. She told me to have an extra spicy Bloody Mary. Boom. I went home and my water broke.

Good luck to you!!!!
