For non-deity believing people it would have to be the "Big Bang". For Christians it would have to be the resurrection of Jesus.

Of course, if you're looking for a non-religion answer, I might say the American Revolution because it created the United States of America, which has changed a lot about the world. Of course, I may just be U.S.-centric there, and if explorers hadn't discovered the New World, then the American Revolution wouldn't have happened. The fall of the Roman Empire was huge. - - - It's really impossible to say though because one thing leads to another and in reality, whichever thing happened first would be the most important because everything that happened later was impacted by that. - - - Boy, you've really got me flummoxed on this question.

This is a very hard question to answer. There are so many events that have great importance from the invention of the wheel to the Russian Revolution. But if I must choose one I would say the invention of the calendar.
