The game has to be exciting and involve items, quests, and adventure. Feel free to elaborate on aspects of the games. I would like as much info as possible...ie game play, examples, web links.

I don't think any are nearly as good as WOW is. However there are several that you can try. Everquest 2 ( everquest2.station.sony.com ) is pretty good, from what I recall. I know it has gone through some changes that I did not like (they had some "different" systems that they decided to streamline into generic MMORPG style). It has good crafting, decent quests, and if you get into a guild you can even do guild quests to help your guild level up.

Another suggestion is Dark Age of Camelot ( www.darkageofcamelot.com ). I always enjoyed playing that game, but it seems almost like a solo game, as I never did see many people in game. Doesn't mean they weren't there...just the areas I was in were pretty empty. It had a good character advancement system with customization for your character's skills.

Final Fantasy 11 is also good, although the user interface took me a while to get used to. That one is very group oriented though, as after about level 8 or 10 or so, you pretty much have to join a group in order to level up. It also had good quests and "missions".

One other suggestion is Horizons ( www.istaria.com ). It has been around for a while and never did really take off, but it's the same type of game with fresh ideas. What I liked about that one is the server and GM-run events. As a server you had to repair some mines that were guarded by enemy armies. It took adventurers to fight off the armies and then crafters to make repairs before the next wave came. There were four mines to repair. Once each mine was repaired, it led to a cave where there was a teleporter to a small island which had some machine on it. It also had enemies and special kinds of ore. The adventurers would go in to fight off the enemy while the crafters would collect the resources to create amulets that were required in order for the adventurer's weapons to be able to damage the machines. Once each machine was destroyed, some curse was broken and the race of Satyrs was freed from enslavement. That unlocked a new player race: Satyr for people to create characters of. The bad points about the game were the major lag (when enemy armies march against the town and you need a lot of players to fight them off...you need to have very good programming to keep the lag reasonable...they did not when I was playing). The exploration for this game was incredible as well. I was very impressed. Oh, and the mine repairs were a serverwide event which took several weeks to complete. That's not what the game is about...that's just one way the players were actually able to impact the world.

Any of those games might be what you are looking for. All four have player housing. Final Fantasy gives you a round mog house and you can decorate it with furniture and such. Everquest 2 allows you to rent an apartment. There are various sizes at various costs, which can be furnished as you desire. Dark Age of Camelot did not have player housing when I played before, but they did add it in a later expansion. I have bought the collection of the games so I had the player housing, but was unable to find an open plot. Plus it looked expensive. Horizons allows people to buy empty plots of land (usually several plots make up a community) and then decide what different things you wanted built there. It'd put scaffolding up and everything until it was completed. You could actually do a whole yard with this one.

Go back to WOW! The expansion is coming out and the game will be more exciting! I guess since Ive been playing for 2 years now I just can't let go. I tried to quit so many times and I just failed. However, if you are looking for a game similar then I'd suggest Lineage 2 or Guildwars. Guildwars is actually FREE and the graphics are incredible.

i see the two ends of the spectrum right here. like, in case you pass on youtube and watch the now infamous "international of warcraft freakout" video, yeah, there are nerds who grow to be obsessed, and that provides all people who play a foul call. i play or maybe i'm embarrased that the freakout youngster ever performed. or the onyxia wipe video, tho that one doesnt even quite matter selection through fact it replaced into captured via somebody taking part in, and recording the vent convo. yet then there are people who play who're no longer obsessed nerds. i play WoW. I even have an 80 warrior all in epics, and a mage and a clergyman i'm engaged on. I even have been in end interest content fabric, and all that good stuff. maximum of my pals do no longer play WoW. in case you ought to ask them, they might permit you already know that i might drop WoW in a heartbeat to pass draw close out with them in the event that they needed. I even have an entire time job (which i'm relatively at at present as a depend of actuality, i basically have fairly some down time), and fairly some pursuits that dont contain a working laptop or laptop, and im nonetheless a rattling good WoW participant via maximum folk's standards. and im a chick who's broadly called warm, so double hardship there, a warm chick who play's WoW who ISNT a nerd, GASP! I even have got here upon that maximum people who say "all people who play WoW are nerds" are people who've in no way performed it, or are people who performed it as quickly as and sucked at it. i additionally believe what Evananswers reported. fairly some todays game enthusiasts are so used to video games that are basically all action perpetually, that whilst they see a interest the place they actually ought to sit down down and think of, it immediatly will become "nerdy" or another word meaning nerdy.

Get diablo 2 with the expansion pack. This is the most addicting action rpg I have ever played. Imagine yourself as a shapeshifting druid with an army of rabid wolves, a flock of deadly ravens, a spirit regenerating your health and a vine that follows you eating your dead foes carcasses. BAD@SSS is what I call that. It can be even better online, especially if you are a newbie. People can hook you up with great weapons and accessories, and very quickly you can be a killing machine.
