Hey there, I have this very dear friend i've known for 2 1/2 years now. After we graduated high school, she told me she had OCD on her christianity. She told me she was always anxious about wheither she's not reading the bible enough, not praying enough, etc. At first, i didn't really think too much about it and keep things going as they usually were; but NOW that i've read about it and learned how sufferers handle their cases, i felt a tremendous regret over not realizing this sooner. Since i've learned that people w/ ocd usually go through a certain routine everyday, would it be right if i stop talking to her?

Yes it would be wrong to stop talking to her.

She has confided in you, now you are thinking about turning your back on her

EDIT

OK I took it wrong.

OCD is not a problem to the levels some people are suggesting it is, especially the person who links it with being bipolar.

My ex-girlfriend has OCD, all it entails is her lining cigarettes up in ashtrays if she is smoking.

While it can interfere with peoples lives it is not anything that should change your firendhip with her.

Why would you turn your back on such a good friend? Maybe you can help her. If you reject her in such a way, you will make her feel like some kind of freak. So many people have some kind of mental issue some time in their lives and it still seems such a big taboo. How would you feel if it was the other way round? I can't believe you would ask such a question, you sound a bit misinformed about OCD or maybe you are just not mature enough to handle dealing with this.

Take care : )

No it wouldn't be right. If she's your friend, be a friend. A lot of people with religion feel as if they aren't worthy of redemption no matter how mush they pray, read the bible, etc. Regardless of if she has OCD, if she doesn't harm you or your relationship with her behavior, you should be understanding and supportive. That's what friends do.

Of course it alright. i stopped talking to my friend because she was bipolar. Not because I didnt like her, because I couldnt handle her disordered. I just stopped to talking to her little by little. Making up excuses that I was too busy to see her. Every now and then again we bump into each other a catch up on old times, were just not best friends like we used to. No one got hurt and our friendship is still there.

Calm down and be yourself. If you think that she is getting on your nerve, then try coaxing her to go to counselling, volunteer to give her company when she sees a counsellor, if you feel that you should help her.... good luck
