Not because you don't have a job, but the father has custodial rights too. He can sue you for parental custody and the fact that he has a way to support the baby and that you don't can make things easier for the judge.
If the child's father is threatening this, get a lawyer NOW (many will do pro bono work-- you won't pay).

Only if you let him. If you are not married, then his rights as primary custodian is less. In a divorce, the court will try to do what is best for the child. If the court feels that a full time mom at home would be better than a baby sitter and a Dad with two jobs, then he would pay child support while you went through the process of getting financial add to help your current situation and maintain custody of your child. It is best you seek counsel from your church, family planning, or a lawyer. You may not find the help with the first person you see, but he might know someone that can.

How do you plan on supporting the baby? How old are you? Do you live with your parents have have a plan to have the grandma watch him while you find a job? Have a plan ready for the referee. Your child can not be taken from you unless you are unfit.
Do not give the father any reason to get the child. Have a tidy home and food in the fridge. Do not have men overnight , or a steady flow of men in the house. Don't do drugs. Don't leave your kid with anyone but family and make sure that the dad visits, and that you make the initiative to have him over- it shows you are a fair and cooperative woman who is putting her child first.

No he cannot. He will have to go to court and prove you an unfit or abusive mother. I suggest you go to DCF and apply for benefits now and start getting help! You should also apply for subsidized housing. When your child is born you petition for child support if he's not paying on his own. Don't let anyone bully you hear. You take care of your business and nobody can take your child away. You need to take action NOW!

Absolutely not!!
If you aren't together with baby's father then the only way he will get custody of a new born is to prove that you are unfit as a mother ie abusive, drug use or alcohol abuse. Not having a job doesn't qualify as being a bad mother.

No...he can only take the child if you are found to be an unfit mother...meaning that you cannot provide the things that your baby needs...you have a drug or alcohol addiction or if you are putting your child in danger in some way.
Even then...it would have to go to court first.
He can't say that you don't have enough money....because he will paying you child support! (get that established asap!)
I am sorry for you that you are in that situation....My thoughts are with you.
Just do your best to take care of that beautiful baby....and be the best mom you can be.

No you could have reasons for not working financially if you are supporting the child, even if you have medicaide, foodstamp assistance the courts can not do anything as long as you are a good mom feeding and caring for the baby and keeping a roof over the babies head in a safe non abusive enviroment

In the USA no. BUT there could be circumstances that the curt would allow him to. BUT without a court order NO he canNOT take the child away from you. One of these circumstances that I speak of would be, you don't have a place to live. Then YES. But as a rule NO he cannot, NOT without a court order.

Highly unlikely. Generally speaking, courts rule in favor of the mother with visitation awarded to the father, unless you live a, shall we say, less than exemplary lifestyle. He will just have to pay you child support and will get visitation. Don't worry.
