bzzzz...it is not crazy..their are a bunch of infants going in for surgery...i am not putting her threw nothing...wait until she hits preschool age and have the children torment her even more?! that is crazy. as it is we cannot go any where with out the remarks thinking i abuse my child! i do not want that. i would rather have it taken care of before hand rather than everyone think that we abuse her or think she fell and cracked her head. i had taken her to the ER oneday and guess what they investaged bc the thought it was CHILD Abuse!!! after all that that is when WE decied to remove it.i hope some one out their know what i am going threw..

If the birthmark is not causing any health problems, then this is your personal decision. Our youngest had two hemangiomas (sometimes called a "strawberry birthmark") removed at 11 months, with a scar revision at age 2. We knew by the time she was 2 months old that she would need plastic surgery for the one on her face, as it had grown so large that all the specialists agreed that it would never look normal after involuting. It became a question of when to do the surgery, rather than if.

We did not want to "deal with it" for years, nor did we want her to have to "deal with it", so we had it removed early. However, any surgery will leave a scar, even if it is small. She will always have a scar, but it is not as bad as what would result from leaving it alone. She did not have any problems with the surgeries, and both were done at a surgical center.

My son was born with what they call angel kisses a darker mark on his forehead and a stork kiss one on the back of his neck he is now 5 and neither are noticable anymore, they tend to fade more in mixed babies. Is there no chance of it fading on its own?
Its not like it is a hideous deformity, but being teased at school is enough to want it removed.

My sister had one in the middle of her forehead but my parents did not have it removed, they let it go away on it's own. Why would you have it removed? There is nothing medically wrong with a birthmark.

My daughter (now 8) has a strawberry birthmark on her belly. It was sort of big when she was a baby but we can barely see it now. As far a surgery on a baby personally I would be scared but I am scared of surgery period. All I can say for you is GOOD LUCK and I hope everything works out well. Again GOOD LUCK!

Youre getting it removed? That seems crazy in my opinion. To put a 9 month old baby through a sugery for vanity reasons.

my cousin who is 6 now has a strawberry birthmark on her back and her mom wouldnt think of removing it it her personnal mark, why would you want to put your daughter through surgury if its not needed, i would wait until shes older and let her decide if she wants it remove, lots of things can happen during surgury my son had to get surgury at 9 months for a hernia hydrocile and it was so scary to me i wouldnt dare to think about putting my son through surgury agian unless it despretly needed good luck with that

Not a birthmark, but mine was born with a scratch on his face and full fingernails. And we thought he was a little early.....
